Whites Hill, meet cnr Jones Rd & Kildare St8-9am. Walkers will see lots of wildlife on this easy one-hour walk around Whites Hill Reserve, guided by members of the Whites Hill – Pine Mountain Community Group. Please wear covered shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Meet at the reserve entrance, corner Jones Rd and Kildare St, Carina. We will discuss the use of natural weed control strategies and the historical composition and function of Gondwana vegetation communities. Jono and Tali Shelley from Bush Tekniqs will share with you the use of natural weed control strategies. They will discuss practical techniques of all-natural weed mitigation and provide case studies to demonstrate their effectiveness. Mike Olsen from LAMR will cover the historical composition and function of Gondwanan flora, giving an overview of vegetation communities including plant identification and ecological function. 10a-12pm. Squirrel gliders are nocturnal native animals that live in our local parks, gardens woodland and forests. Hear about the challenges they face, including the clearing of native flora and the threat from domestic animals. Learn how you can help our small glider friends.
