Get yourself a handy new creative skill and learn how to re-purpose tshirts when we have the inspiring eco-champion Jane Milburn return to our Sustainability Centre. Jane will be demonstrating and assisting you to to refashion t-shirts into other items - empowering you to take control of your fashion footprint! Bring along a few surplus/pre-loved t-shirts to refashion into necklaces, headbands, shopping bags and pouches using basic sewing techniques, strategic cutting, tying, plaiting and knotting. If you don't have your own tshirts, don't worry, we'll have some for you. $25. Places limited. Book via above link.
Whites Hill, meet cnr Jones Rd & Kildare St8-9am. An easy one-hour walk around Whites Hill Reserve, guided by members of the Whites Hill – Pine Mountain Community Group. Please wear covered shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Meet at the reserve entrance, corner Jones Rd and Kildare St, Carina. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times inside the reserve.

This free, family friendly event will feature tree planting, live music, eco-activities for kids and craft workshops, with food and coffee available on-site. Get up close and personal with our native species at the wildlife show or learn how to spot a koala on a mini guided walk, led by the team from Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. As a thank you for planting a tree, volunteers will receive a free native plant for their own garden. Wear enclosed shoes for planting, and bring your own water bottle, coffee cup and sun protection. This event is part of Brisbane City Council's Green Heart Week. Bookings not required.

Bulimba Creek8-11am. The Bulimba Creek Paddle Against Plastic is on again. This time Ocean Crusaders are at Minnippi Parklands, a beautiful part of the river to paddle. This part of the creek has a lot of debris washed in from surrounding streets and due to the area flooding it is up on the banks, as well as stuck in the trees that have fallen in the river. Both land and water will be cleaned up. Bring your paddle craft of any type. Kayaks, canoes, SUPs, inflatable boats, whatever you have, come on down and help Ocean Crusaders to clean the creek. If you don't have a craft, you can rent one of Ocean Crusaders' with the small fee going to help keep their fleet maintained. This is a child friendly event - bring the family along to help them understand that keeping our waterways clean is essential for the wellbeing of marine life. Last year they even saw small turtles in the river! There will be a BBQ lunch for volunteers at the end of cleaning. Meet in Preston Road Park off Meadowloands Road, Carindale and they'll launch using the pontoon under the bridge. Ocean Crusaders will provide all the cleaning tools however please wear appropriate clothing for long grass. Solid shoes is a great idea, ones that can get wet are perfect.
