Help to clean up this conservation zone as part of the Gibson Island Rehabilitation Project and to celebrate Keep Australia Beautiful Week. We will be starting with morning tea and then into the clean-up. We'll also have a complimentary coffee van there. Wear a hat, closed-in shoes and sunscreen. Bring your reusable water bottle. The 2018 National Landcare Conference offers 3 days of knowledge sharing, insightful discussion, as well as informative presentations by pioneers, leaders of NRM bodies, scientists, academics, government, and environmental, climate and biodiversity experts. With the theme ‘Landcare – Building a Better Tomorrow’, the 4 streams that will be covered include; Sustainable Agriculture – Innovation and Conservation in a Changing Landscape, Community in Action – Grassroots with a Purpose, Partnerships – Collaboration for Successful Outcomes & Environment – Improving and Protecting our Natural Assets. Switzel, also known as Shrub, is an age old drink that’s super easy to make and can be created from a variety of fruit flavours you’ll have in your home orchard or herb garden, (and sometimes your flower garden too). Learn how to make a seasonal switzel that is delicious and surprisingly good for you too. Morning tea included. Enjoy the surrounds of our Sustainability Centre in Carindale. $5 per person, pre-booking required (via link above). This workshop is supported by the Brisbane City Council Cultivating Community Gardens Grant.
The Princess Theatre, WoolloongabbaExpressions of interest are invited for the upcoming exhibition, ‘Worn OUT?’ - deadline 20 August. A great way to celebrate the #WaronWaste. The exhibition focuses on upcycled wearable art and consist of two discrete showcases, Refashion and Cosplay. The exhibition will be launched with a free opening event featuring a runway show for each of the showcases and will continue to run with a static display of selected Refashion garments, Cosplay outfits and accessories.
