Whites Hill Reserve bushwalk

Whites Hill, meet cnr Jones Rd & Kildare St
8-9am. Walkers will see lots of wildlife on this easy one-hour walk around Whites Hill Reserve, guided by members of the Whites Hill – Pine Mountain Community Group. Please wear covered shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Meet at the reserve entrance, corner Jones Rd and Kildare St, Carina. Come along, grab a cuppa and see a presentation at 9.30am. Have a tour of the community gardens and native plant nursery. Learn about our recent projects and activities in your catchment and chat to our friendly team.
Morning tea provided (gold coin donation / free for B4C members). Take a look through our book swap stand (bring a book to swap with any book or purchase one for $2). No need to RSVP, just turn up!

Meet near the toilets and playground, opposite the touch footy club house. This walk is still often referred to as 'Pat's Walk for Pleasure'. Pat hosted this walk for 20 years.

Brisbane biodiversity seminar series - Vegetation Management

Join BCC and guest speakers for an informative evening. We will discuss the use of natural weed control strategies and the historical composition and function of Gondwana vegetation communities. Jono and Tali Shelley from Bush Tekniqs will share with you the use of natural weed control strategies. They will discuss practical techniques of all-natural weed mitigation and provide case studies to demonstrate their effectiveness. Mike Olsen from LAMR will cover the historical composition and function of Gondwanan flora, giving an overview of vegetation communities including plant identification and ecological function. 10a-12pm. Squirrel gliders are nocturnal native animals that live in our local parks, gardens woodland and forests. Hear about the challenges they face, including the clearing of native flora and the threat from domestic animals. Learn how you can help our small glider friends. Free event (thanks to Logan City Council). Presented by B4C's Operation Manager Stefan Hattingh (ecologist and volunteer wildlife carer). Bookings essential.
