This group is carrying out restoration of valuable riparian (or riverbank) rainforest vegetation and habitat for an endangered fish species along Spring Creek, a tributary of Bulimba Creek Catchment. Group activities include rubbish removal, weed control and revegetation of locally native species.
The Belmont Hills Bushcare Group grew from an association with Belmont Hills Conservation Group and the Vickerman’s Voluntary Conservation Property. BHBG bean in response to the late Eric Vickerman’s singing of the first Voluntary Conservation Agreement with the Brisbane City Council in 1996. This agreement meant that Eric’s property on the southern end of Belmont Hill would not be sold off to developers.
