Below are events run or supported by B4C. Come and join in some of the great activities happening around the catchment and beyond!

  • Waterbug workshop - beginners

    B4C Sustainability Centre, Cnr 1358 Old Cleveland Rd & Wright St, Carindale
    10am-4pm. This workshop, for absolute beginners, will start at B4C's Sustainability Centre at Carindale before moving to a very close-by waterway site. Partially funded by Bayside Creek Catchment Group & B4C. Lunch is included! Learn how to collect and identify waterbugs, plus how use the Waterbug App. Then, you’ll have all the skills you need to do your own Waterbug Blitz at your local freshwater waterway as part of the National Waterbug Blitz - or simply develop your interest in waterbugs.  Minimum age is 16. $20 for the full day.

  • Whites Hill Reserve bushwalk

    Whites Hill, meet cnr Jones Rd & Kildare St
    kookaburra on bushwalk8-9am. An easy one-hour walk around Whites Hill Reserve, guided by members of the Whites Hill – Pine Mountain Community Group. Please wear covered shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Meet at the reserve entrance, corner Jones Rd and Kildare St, Carina. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times inside the reserve.
  • Waterbug workshop - advanced

  • Tshirts reworked - workshop with Jane Milburn

    Arrive from 9.30am to sign-on and grab a cubba. 10am-12pm. Get yourself a handy new creative skill and learn how to re-purpose tshirts when we have the inspiring eco-champion Jane Milburn return to our Sustainability Centre. Jane will be demonstrating and assisting you to to refashion t-shirts into other items - empowering you to take control of your fashion footprint! Bring along a few surplus/pre-loved t-shirts to refashion into necklaces, headbands, shopping bags and pouches using basic sewing techniques, strategic cutting, tying, plaiting and knotting. If you don't have your own tshirts, don't worry, we'll have some for you. $25. Places limited. Book via above link.
  • Barriers & Bridges - fauna movement solutions forum

    9am-12pm. The time for wildlife movement solutions to be common practice is way overdue. This forum gives focus to the next steps for action.  At this event we're broadening the fauna movement solutions discussion to more than just road issues. In talking about 'barriers' we're referring to any aspect that provides a challenge / impasse for wildlife. And 'bridges' refers to any method that provides a link for wildlife. 
    Featuring presentations and a panel discussion with audience Q&A.  Includes morning tea. Sponsored by the Transurban Community Grant.

  • Sustainability Centre Open Day

    9am-12pm. ome along, grab a cuppa and see a presentation starting at 9.30am. Learn about our recent projects and activities in your catchment and chat to our friendly team.
    Morning tea provided (gold coin donation / free for B4C members). Take a look through our book swap stand (bring a book to swap with any book or purchase one for $2). We also have Boomerang Bags, homemade jam and natural honey for sale. We don't have EFTPoS sorry, cash only. No need to RSVP, just turn up! Our open days are supported by the Bulimba Creek Catchment Environment Fund.

  • Whites Hill Reserve Bushwalk

    koala on bushwalk8am-10am (was 7-9am in the hotter months). Meeting next to the playground opposite the football clubhouse & cafe. Wear closed in shoes, a hat, sunscreen and repellent. Bring water in reusable bottle. Morning tea provided.
    Meet near the toilets and playground, opposite the touch footy club house. This walk is still often referred to as 'Pat's Walk for Pleasure'. Pat hosted this walk for 20 years. Always on the second Sunday of the month, this walk includes morning tea. RSVP for catering to b4c@bulimbacreek.org.au.
  • Green Heart Fair

    Green Heart Fair logo8am-2pm. Brisbane City Council’s Green Heart Fair is Brisbane’s biggest FREE bi-annual community and sustainability festival, promoting innovative green living in a fun, family-friendly environment for all residents to come and enjoy. The Fair welcomes over 100 of Brisbane’s leading sustainability organisations, community groups, artisans, foodies, green-thumbs, conservationists, businesses and eco experts to share information and knowledge with Brisbane residents on how to live more sustainably. Don't forget your reusable water bottle and coffee cup!

  • Greater Brisbane Environment Advocacy Community Forum

    10am-3pm. Join others from your community for the final Greater Brisbane Forum of 2019! The day will include a delicious free lunch and refreshments to fuel our conversations. This final forum is not to be missed as QCC will share our proposal for Greater Brisbane Environment Advocacy Network (Greater BEAN) initiatives we plan to get funding for in 2020. Your input to these initiatives will help shape the vision for how QCC will support the Greater BEAN to become a strong network! As a result of our work together on the Greater Brisbane Project over the past 10 months, QCC has decided to get behind supporting the development of a network as we believe this could be the most effective way to move forward together.
