B4C COVID-19 Policy

The following actions and responses are to be enacted by the Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee Inc., in response to the Qld Government’s “Roadmap to easing restrictions”. B4C aims to protect staff, volunteers, their families and the community from contracting or transmitting this virus.

COVID-19 virus

The following arrangements (from June 12 until review July 10) are in line with government and Health Department information.

The public health rules to maintain:

  • Physical distancing
  • 4 square metres per person when indoors
  • Hand hygiene
  • Respiratory hygiene
  • Frequent environmental cleaning and disinfection

Any person who attends a B4C site or event with any symptoms of being unwell will be asked to leave site and go home. Staff have the option or working from home if possible when unwell.

Government restrictions eased to up to 20 people in a public gathering from June 1. However, 4 people per square metre rule indoors means only 10 people in Discovery Hub.

1. OPEN DAYS, COMMUNITY & CORPORATE EVENTS:

a. Open Days (currently on hold) – combination of max 10 people on site and Zoom meeting

b. Community/corporate outdoor events – 20 people in specified area

2. VISITORS TO B4C SUSTAINABILITY CENTRE:

a. Visitors for less than 30 minutes welcome.

b. Visitors requested to phone or email the office to make an appointment (for plants, meeting)

c. All visitors must sign in with name and address and phone number as per COVID Safe Checklist

3. MEETINGS:

a. General Meeting – combination of max 10 people on site and Zoom meeting

b. Large meetings will be organised online until further notice (Zoom).

c. Meetings of up to 10 people can be held in the Discovery Hub.

4. ESSENTIAL NURSERY WORK:

a. It is noted that most regular volunteers fall into the “Vulnerable” category of over 65 years of age. The Qld Gov. recommendation to these people is still to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travel.

b. Regular volunteers to be invited to show expression of interest of days to attend. People will be selected to attend specific days so that there are no more than 10 people in total, including other referred volunteers, per day in order to maintain the social distancing. BYO Cup and Cutlery.

5. NURSERY SALES
Community members seeking plants from B4C nursery: encouraged to purchase online packs at this time.

6. REFERRED VOLUNTEERS and COMMUNITY SERVICE:
These programs have ceased to operate from 19 March. Limited Referred Volunteers resumption from July 10, only if B4C Policy is endorsed by provider, including mandatory face mask use in vehicles

Limited Community Service resumption from July 10th, only if B4C Policy is endorsed by Corrective Services, including mandatory face mask use in vehicles. All volunteers/community service must sign in with name and address and phone as per COVID Safe Checklist.

7. LANDCARE SERVICES UNIT (Field Staff and volunteers):
Still operating, with reduced volunteers support. Vehicle limit of 2 people. Can change to full crew, if face masks are used by all, while in the vehicle.

Field staff are always to take all recommended precautions in contact with the public and hygiene measures.

8. OFFICE STAFF (Administration and Management):
All office staff are able to return to work at the office. Vulnerable staff (over 65 or with underlying physical or medical conditions) are strongly encouraged to work from home.

9. HABITAT BRISBANE:
Groups are able re-commence, with physical distancing, and hygiene measures in place with maximum of 20 participants.

10. CONTINGENCY PLAN for all staff, volunteers and potential visitors, is in operation for Stage III:
for complying with health restrictions and optimising non-contact and transmission are in operation.

B4C is still able to operate with these restrictions and health arrangements in place. A much lower number of people are attending the Centre and we will immediately inform everyone of any changes to these arrangements after considering direction or recommendations from the Authorities.

B4C is following all Government and Health Department requirements and recommendations to provide health and safety to all. THIS POLICY TO BE DISPLAYED ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND POSTED – all three sections of Sustainability Centre along with the Covid-19 B4C Workplace Plan.
