Boomerang Bags is a grassroots, community driven movement tackling plastic pollution at its source. Volunteers from all walks of life get together to make re-useable ‘boomerang bags’ using recycled materials, as a means to provide a sustainable alternative to plastic bags.

Find out more on the global Boomerang Bags website.

We have regular Boomerang Bags sessions here in Carindale.

Everyone welcome! You don’t need to know how to sew – there’s a variety of tasks such as pinning, cutting, sorting and making cups of tea! There is no particular skill or knowledge you need to join. We will show you the ropes.

Bags made from someone’s tea-towel collection that had been sitting in their cupboard unused for many years.

Do you have fabric or cotton to donate? The group would love to receive it to upcycle into eco-friendly and unique shopping bags! Please get in touch (contact info at the end of this page). You can drop-off at our office and we also have an after hours drop-off address also in Carindale (contact Jewel below to get it).

Want to buy a bag? They are $4 each. They are for sale from the B4C office at at our Sustainability Centre open days.  Funds go back to cover costs of the group and to make regular donations to the Bulimba Creek Environment Fund.
