Chiara Ratti Named B4C Young Environmentalist of the Year 2024: Celebrating Innovation and Connection to Nature

At the end of 2024, B4C was delighted to name Chiara Ratti as the B4C Young Environmentalist of the Year. Chiara, visiting from Italy, became a volunteer at the B4C Nursery in 2024. Despite her short time with us, she made a significant impact with her skills and enthusiasm.

Chiara brought her expertise in biomimicry—an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions by emulating nature’s patterns and strategies—to our community. She led educational walks, teaching us how nature’s designs can inspire more sustainable living and technology.

Chiara’s academic background is impressive, covering fields like environmental architecture and innovations inspired by nature. She is currently taking a course in Systemic Thinking with Fijodor Capra and has earned a Biomimicry Practitioner Certificate from a six-month project-based programme supported by the Biomimicry Institute.

Chiara also started a project called “Lichens,” aiming to help people feel connected to nature even while travelling.

As Chiara continues her travelling adventures, we wish her all the best and believe she will continue to make a positive difference wherever she goes.
