As 2024 comes to a close, Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee (B4C) is proud to announce Greg Tasney as the recipient of the 2024 B4C Regional Conservation Award. Greg serves as a Land for Wildlife Officer for Scenic Rim Council and has consistently demonstrated his expertise and dedication to environmental conservation.
Greg’s exceptional skills in species identification have greatly benefited B4C’s conservation efforts, especially at our Mt Elliott and Mt Barney properties. His extensive experience includes working with key environmental organisations across Brisbane such as the Brisbane Catchments Network, Oxley Creek Catchment Association, and Brisbane Bushland Alliance.
Over the past two years, Greg has carried out ecological surveys and developed weed management plans for B4C’s nature refuges at Mt Barney (120ha) and Mt Elliot (80ha). His work has significantly improved our management strategies, especially in monitoring threatened species and planning their protection.
Beyond his fieldwork, Greg has supported various environmental programs in Brisbane, delivering presentations on nature conservation, ecosystem health, and species protection. His deep understanding of environmental challenges makes him a vital asset to the community and a respected figure in the fields of botany and wildlife.
Thank you, Greg, for your continued contributions to our community and the natural areas we strive to protect.
